Collaborative Choreography

The collaborative process is one which will engage, challenge and often transform your students. I will work closely with them, providing assignments, structure as needed and a directorial eye. As they generate material, they will build on new found improvisational and partnering skills as well as incorporating their own skill sets. They will make myriad creative choices, experiment, compromise, encounter problems and solve them. They will learn about the demanding art of choreography and the often even more demanding art of collaboration. As your students are confronted with the ideas and visions of others, they will come to know more about their own "voice;" they will be pushed to expand it even as they are defining it. Goal: I will collaborate with your students to make one or more new choreographic works. These new works could be for a specific concert or could be designed to add to the repertory of the school's performing ensemble.   Interdisciplinary Participants do not have to be advanced dancers. Creative open-minded and playful spirits will find themselves at home in this process. more...
